In 1990, Merrilie was chosen Realtor of the Year by the Talbot County Board of Realtors, and for 1991-1992 was elected President of the Talbot County Board of Realtors. She previously served as Secretary, and as Education Chairperson for three years, when she established the Board's Orientation Programs for new agents and an Educational Seminar Series for Continuing Education.
